Garragarrak

Victim and Witness Support Centre

Attending and giving evidence at our facility

Our facility is called Garragarrak, which means ‘dragonfly’ in the Woi Wurrung language of the Wurundjeri people. The dragonfly is a symbol of transformation, power, and adaptability.

Garragarrak is located in the Melbourne CBD. It is a friendly, inclusive, and welcoming space where you can:

  • meet with your Child and Youth Witness Service (CYWS) practitioner and other people involved in the court case
  • view your video evidence
  • give your evidence as a witness in a court case.

If you are based in or near Melbourne, we will encourage you to come to Garragarrak.

If you are in a regional area, we can arrange a remote witness room from a location close to where you live, or you can give evidence at Garragarrak.

Remote witness rooms

undefined

Garragarrak has remote witness rooms where children and young people can give their evidence via audio visual link.

The CYWS shares this facility with the Intermediary Program.

Each of our eight remote witness rooms has a native animal theme.

If you would like, you can see what our remote witness rooms look like.
